About
River May Riley is a speculative writer based in the cobbles and marshlands of the Berkshire Mountains, the northern range of the Appalachians.
Their scholarly background in environmental history, neuroculture, queer theory, ecology, international politics, and climate science informs their craft.
For River’s Masters degree in English Literature, they wrote a road trip long poem and accompanying thesis about trans teen homelessness, madness, family, and meeting our gods, based on a fragmented gap in Aeschylus’ Oresteia.
When not writing stories to find the hope in the mess of it all, River studies plants and stars, practices drawing, and wanders the woods with their spouse and rescue pitbull.
